Estimates under stated assumptions

Every calculation on this site is an estimate computed from the figures you enter and the assumptions displayed with the results — including the investment return you select, the cost-of-living adjustment you enter, and survival probabilities modeled from the SSA Period Life Table (2021) using a Gompertz approximation described in the checker's methodology notes. Different assumptions produce different results. Actual pension values depend on your plan's documents, IRS-prescribed interest and mortality under IRC §417(e), taxes, and your personal circumstances, none of which this tool can determine for you.

Figures change

Amounts referenced on this site — including the PBGC maximum guaranteed benefit ($7,789.77 per month at age 65 for 2026) and any industry figures — are drawn from the public sources noted on the relevant pages as of October 2026 and are updated periodically. The PBGC publishes new maximums; your plan's figures govern your election. Verify current figures with the PBGC and your plan administrator before acting.
